A treble by a champion jockey is news; by an apprentice rider, it's sensational news.
The feat of apprentice Trevor Patel on March 14, riding three winners on a single card, is so rare that race lovers are now extremely curious to know more about this young riding sensation.

"We are not a racing family," his father Suresh Patel, who owns a factory of corrugated boxes near Pune, told MiD DAY, "but he was so mad about horses that finally when he was eight, we put him in instructor GM Khan's riding school,"
Trevor got the riding license and his 14th ride gave him his first victory when he rode King's Troop to a shock victory at the odds of 60 to 1.
It took a month for him to return to the winner's enclosure, but his second win astride Daffodils was quickly followed by super success on Sunday when he converted all his three mounts to victories.
Asked about which of the three victories on Sunday he would rate as his best, Trevor was quick to reply, "Western Challenge -- because the horse was a maiden despite being ridden by a dozen top riders."
